Giving a Voice to the Voiceless: The Story of Bezuban Awaaz

Considering a world overflowing with opinions and stories, there yet remains some who remain unheard-they are muted either by fear or oppression, stigma, or no access. Bezuban Awaaz came into existence to bring about that change.

In a literal translation from Urdu to English, Bezuban Awaaz means “Voice for the Voiceless.” It is more than just an NGO. It is a movement, a safe space, and a growing community that believes every individual-from whatever background, gender, caste, ability, or identity-ought to be heard, recognized, and respected.

    1. Gender Rights & Safety
Gender-based violence, consent, menstrual health, reproductive rights-all these topics are issues we aim to educate, sensitize, and challenge toxic norms that allow inequality to prevail-and we organize awareness campaigns, workshops and outreach programs related to these issues.

    1. Mental Health Advocacy
Being silent about mental health can be occasioning death. We are in a coalition with psychologists, therapists, and mental health organizations in order to share resources, create safe spaces for conversations, and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, especially in underprivileged communities.

    1. Support for Survivors: Legal and Emotional
Our belief is that those who have been victims of violence and harassment should never walk alone. Our NGO assists the victims by linking them with verified counselors, legal aid, and helplines. We also run anonymous storytelling platforms where people can share their experiences, find solidarity, and begin their healing journey.

    1. Youth & Community Engagement
The youth are not just potential future members; they are current ones. Bezuban Awaaz arranges frequent interactive sessions in schools, colleges, and slum areas to nurture the fledgling minds of youngsters so that they can speak up, think critically, and act compassionately. We also involve local communities in our grassroots projects because change truly starts from the ground level.

    1. Digital Advocacy
The modern curse is: “If you do not speak, the social media will speak for it.” From our Instagram and other online spaces, we stage campaigns that provoke discussion, dismantle stereotypes, and offer support. From survivor testimonies to myth-crushing reels; our digital activism is high-pitched, loud, and unapologetically genuine.

Meaning Behind Our Actions

True stories get told every day. A girl is terrified to go to school on account of harassment; a boy is hesitant to open up about his depression; the trans person is denied charities; the survivor is told to stay quiet in the name of the “family’s honor.”

This is not just on-paper statistics. These are real human beings. Real lives. Real sorrow.

And thus came into existence Bezuban Awaaz to remind the world, that silence is not peace, nor ignorance bliss. We are here to hear. We are here to support. We are here to fight.
